Early last week, President Obama was asked why he refused to negotiate with Republicans to put a stop to the Obamagovernment shutdown.

He said, “I have said from the start of the year that I’m happy to talk to Republicans about anything related to the budget. There is not a subject that I am not willing to engage in, work on, negotiate and come up with common-sense compromises on.”

He said the Republicans needed to stop standing in the way of an agreement.  “And as soon as that happens, I am eager and ready to sit down and negotiate with Republicans on a whole range of issues.”

Well, the shutdown is over, the Republicans caved and he has gotten what he wanted.

When do the negotiations begin?

Let’s all watch to see when that happens.

We were also told that Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and the other tea party Republicans were fools to stand in the way of an agreement because the shutdown was stealing all the headlines, and people  were not hearing about how bad the rollout of Obamacare was.

They said if not for the news of the shutdown, the media would be talking all day about the disaster the website was and how no one could register, much less get health insurance.

The nightmare of Obamacare would have been the headlines across the nation, if not for those tea party types.

OcareWsiteDown

Well, the shutdown is over and off the front page.  And the Obamacare rollout hasn’t gotten any better.

So let’s all watch to see how the media reports on it now.

Let’s all watch to see how many headlines it gets.

The news is unreal today, almost mocking.

Our new Secretary of State, John Kerry, has decreed that four State Department officials who were on administrative leave related to the attack in Benghazi last year are to be reinstated and will not be subject to any disciplinary action.

They had been placed on leave under former Secretary Hillary Clinton who had promised the families of those who were murdered in Benghazi that there would be a thorough investigation and justice would be served.  Yet, almost a year later, no one has paid any price.  Well, except the guy who made the video that everyone lied about.  He’s still in prison.

Mrs. Clinton, who famously asked, “What difference does it make?”  remains the front-runner in the race for the democrat presidential candidate.

The prosecution has rested in the case of Nidal Hassan.  The judge in that case has blocked any evidence or witnesses proving his motive, which we all know was jihad.  While shouting Allahu Akbar, Hassan opened fire at Fort Hood, killing 13 and wounding 32 others.

Because Eric Holder’s Justice Department declared Hassan’s act to be “workplace violence” and not a terrorist attack as it was, those killed, their families and the survivors have all been denied the honors and benefits that America legitimately owes to them.

The media breathlessly waits to see how Hassan, who is representing himself, plans to conduct his defense.

While the administration ignores the big, giant, red flags indicating that Hassan is a terrorist, we are told that the NSA is perfectly within its jurisdiction to troll our private lives because they have to find the terrorists among us.  It begs the question what they will do when they find one.

And there is the awful story of three teens who murdered an Australian man who was here attending college.  Reports are that the teens have admitted their guilt and say they did this for fun because they were bored.  The victim was white.  Two of the accused, including the one assumed to have pulled the trigger, are black.

Racial fires are still being stoked over Trayvon Martin’s death, so it’s no surprise that some are asking what Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have to say.  Allen West tweeted “Who will POTUS identify w/this time?”  This is a reference to President Obama comparing himself to Trayvon Martin last month.

These are legitimate questions but like those asked in the Martin/Zimmerman case, they get in the way of any attempt to expose and deal with the real problem.  Why do these young men turn to gang life?  How do they become so cold and indifferent to human life?

It is, of course, all about politics.  Honesty is run down by those who would exploit all this to push their agendas of gun control or the “social justice” du jour.

We’re now getting daily reports of Obamacare driving up insurance premiums, causing employers to cut hours or let workers go, and of course, the selected groups given more and more waivers.

All the while we’re told everything is fine.  Don’t worry, your government has it all under control and it’s all going to be great.  Sunshine, lollipops and unicorns.

The news is certainly strange today.

But none of it is real.

A couple of months ago I had the TV on and tuned to the 5 o’clock news on ABC.  When they went to commercial, they ran a promo for one of their new shows called Mistresses.

Based on the commercial, this must be one steamy show.  It seemed like there was a lot of extra-marital sex going on and the camera left little to one’s imagination.  As a matter of fact, based on that commercial, and the name of the show, I would guess that this is what the show is all about – sex.  One clip even showed lesbian sex in the shower.

Now, it’s entirely up to me to choose what programs I will or won’t tune into.  But I don’t have a choice about what the networks put in their commercials or when they air those commercials.  And in the 5 o’clock hour I would imagine there were a lot of youngsters who saw what I saw.

I sent a quick email to my local ABC affiliate that read in part, “Please, tell me, is it even possible to have the TV on anymore with young children in the house without having to have “the talk” with a five-year old?”

The station’s general manager responded, “Thanks for the feedback about the Mistresses promo spot.  Very helpful information.   Thanks.”

Sheesh.

Since then, I’ve seen several similar promos, some for different shows.  This seems to be the new normal for those in charge of programming.  I have set the issue aside as it seems to be out of my hands.

But I was pleasantly surprised this morning to learn that I’m not alone.  Another Mom, Rebeca Seitz, blogged about her similar experience and it’s getting a lot of notice.  She snapped a picture of her TV showing the promo for another show called Betrayal  that ran on Good Morning America (while her 8-year-old was watching) and posted it to Facebook.

Facebook took the picture down.  They notified her that it was “inappropriate due to nudity.”

So she put it up on her blog under the name “Morning Sex?”  She says she won’t accept this sort of thing anymore without at least putting up a fight.

As I said, Rebeca’s blog post is getting a lot of attention and that makes me happy to know that at least I’m not alone.  Like Rebeca, I believe it’s possible to provide quality entertainment without lowering long-held standards of decency.  ABC is owned by Disney.  They ought to know better.  They ought to allow parents to decide when, where, how and most importantly what their children will be taught about sex.

Or perhaps they just want all parents to unplug the TV?

Almost 11 months after the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi, we still don’t know what happened there.  After the original cover-up that accused a You Tube video maker (who remains in jail and is the only person who has paid any price) the Obama administration has stonewalled at every turn to prevent the American public from learning the truth.

Some members of Congress continue to try to get at that truth, but it seems that no effort is spared by the administration to stand in their way.  Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) has continued to investigate, in spite of all the roadblocks.  He appeared with Greta Van Susteren last night.  This is a portion of what he had to say.

We know that Gowdy and other members of Congress conducting the investigation have been prevented from interviewing the many survivors of the attack that night.  Their names have been withheld by the administration.  We have learned that those survivors have been threatened should they come forward.

Now Gowdy says they are being reassigned all over and their names are being changed.

Think about that.  Our government is going to such a length to prevent us from hearing the truth.  What are they hiding?

And what of our media?  Where are they?  Why are they not screaming from the rooftops for answers?

I guess they believe that all this is phony.

Or maybe they just think “what difference does it make?”

Update:  And a bit of an apology.  CNN has done some good reporting here and it should be recognized.

Way back in 2010, Christine O’Donnell ran for the United States Senate for the State of Delaware.  O’Donnell was a tea party favorite and became the target ChristineODonnellof some fantastic stories at the hand of her opponents.

One of those stories was about a tax lien on her home.  It was alleged that she wasn’t all that bright and couldn’t manage her own finances.  And to top it off she hadn’t paid her taxes.  Why should such a person hold a position of authority?  It didn’t matter that the lien was not real.  She lost the race.

More information about that lien is trickling out now.  O’Donnell recently got a call from an investigator at the Treasury Department to tell her that some official from the State of Delaware had accessed her tax records improperly.  The date of that access was March 9, 2010.

Coincidentally, that was the same date that O’Donnell announced she was running for the Senate.  Wow, small world, huh?  But if that’s not enough for you, March 9, 2010 was also the date that the IRS placed the tax lien (for the home she no longer owned and didn’t owe any taxes on) into Ms. O’Donnell’s records.

What are the odds?

A Delaware official says the investigation into O’Donnell’s tax records was done properly, and says it was done on March 20, not March 9.  But he can’t provide any evidence or additional information as all their records of the event have already been destroyed.

I’ll give you a minute for that one.

We’ve learned in recent months that the IRS has engaged in a systematic effort to use its power to undermine the most basic rights of conservative Americans by way of denying and delaying tax exempt status for any groups associated with conservative values.  Now it appears the abuse runs deeper than we imagined.

Let’s engage in our own fantastic story for a moment.  Fast forward a bit to the presidential race in 2016. Obamacare is in full swing and, as planned, the IRS has access to all our medical records.  Their abuse of power continues unchecked.

The Republican Party has chosen Margaret O’Malley as their candidate.  She’s a rock-solid conservative and the first female ever in such a position.  With just weeks to go until Election Day, O’Malley is leading and looks headed to be the next President of The United States.

On an otherwise average Monday morning, the headline of the New York Times screams that O’Malley is mentally unstable.  The story reveals that The Times has obtained a copy of her medical records showing her history of being institutionalized for depression and drug abuse.  The associated criminal offenses are hinted at.  There are also records of treatment for a variety of STDs and a listing of multiple abortions – from the pro-life candidate.

O’Malley steps to the microphones and claims innocence of each and every charge, but she is unable to overcome the media frenzy.  She drops in the polls like a brick and is beaten by the Democrat Party candidate in a landslide.  Her reputation is left in ruins.

A couple of months later, as the new president is about to be inaugurated, The Times prints a retraction in two tiny paragraphs on page 32, below the fold.  They reveal that the IRS accidentally attached the medical records of another person to those of Ms. O’Malley.  Oops.  They still refuse to reveal the identity of the person who leaked O’Malley’s records to them.  The Justice Department quietly drops the investigation.

Do you think that story is too fantastic?  I don’t.  I think it’s right where we are headed.  Our government has been ruling against the wishes of the people for quite a long time already.  And now they are shutting the door behind them.  They are guaranteeing their power never be challenged by letting in only those who they trust.

Question them, challenge them or expose them and you’ll find the power they have claimed for themselves come down on you in a way you simply cannot defend.  If they can’t find anything “usefull” to discredit an opponent, they will simply make it up.  They’ve been doing it for years by way of innuendo.  Now they simply have to turn to their pals, conveniently positioned in the maze of bureaucracy they have created, to obtain “real” evidence for whatever fantasy they require.

Did George Zimmerman get away with murder?  Did he abuse our legal system to get away with killing a young, black man simply because he’s obsessed with race?

From the look of things, we may be discussing that for some time to come in spite of what a jury has determined.

But there are other culprits here who are truly guilty of hideous crimes.  They are the many members of the old media who engaged in storytelling that they passed along as news to the rest of us.  The media wanted this case to be about race, and they wanted it so badly that when the facts didn’t support their preconceptions, they simply made them up.

Zimmerman was falsely accused of having made racially charged statements right from the beginning.  The accusations were reported and repeated across the board.  So it was rather surprising when we learned that Zimmerman was not white, but Hispanic.  Well, that didn’t fit what we were being told.

The remedy?  They created a new classification of hyphenated Americans – White Hispanic. By this standard, are we now to refer to the President of The United States as a White African American?  And what are we supposed to call all the other Hispanic people now?

Perhaps the most egregious of the lies came from NBC in late March of 2012, just a month after the incident when the 911 tapes were released.  They recklessly edited the 911 tape, so as to paint Zimmerman as the racist they wanted him to be.

This is the sort of thing you can’t take back.  It’s toothpaste you can’t put back in the tube, no matter what reluctant apology you issue quietly, days later.  In the racially charged atmosphere the press was creating, the damage was already done.

Breitbart.com has put together a good collection of the lies the media has handed us regarding this incident, including those of Al Sharpton who fanned the flames of the very racial divide he claims he wants to end.  If you are not familiar with the list, I urge you to have a look.

These outlets have no credibility left.  They should not be permitted to call themselves news organizations.  They no longer give us news, but instead feed unsuspecting viewers their own twisted ideas of how the world is and how they think it ought to be.

Zimmerman’s attorneys have filed suit against NBC for broadcasting their shameful editing of the 911 tape.  I’ll watch that case closely to see what possible defense they’ll put up.  I hope they are made to pay dearly for their deception.

I never met Trayvon Martin or George Zimmerman.  I’m sad that one young man is dead and the other’s life is changed forever.  I have compassion for their families.  But the truth is that none of this affects my life and tragedies like this one happen every day that I never hear about.

You and I know about this one only because the media wanted us to.  Sadly, young, black men are killed in alarming numbers, but NBC and the others don’t tell us about those.  I have no idea what inspired them, but they decided that this one was more important than the others and that this one was all about race.  They were wrong about that part, but it didn’t matter to them.  They made it what they wanted it to be.  And in the process, we’ve become a little more divided and a little more suspicious of each other when we need not be.

For me, this trial was all about the media.

And this jury of one finds them guilty.

Francois Murad is a Catholic priest who was murdered in Syria last week.  With his hands tied behind his back, he was beheaded with what’s beingFrancoisMurad described as a kitchen knife.  A mob of men and boys chanted “Allahua Akbar” as Father Murad and two other men were brutally decapitated.

Many in the crowd had smartphones and used this modern technology to record the archaic, barbaric acts.  The pictures and videos are easily found online.  I won’t post any of it here.  That’ll be your own choice to view or not.

The murderers, the barbarians, are part of the group that Western news agencies and the Obama administration are referring to as “Syrian rebels.”  These are the people we are planning to support with cash, weapons and military training.

The Obama administration is also considering bringing Syrian refugees here to America.  Taking into account the current state of our immigration policy, and our government’s inability to determine friend from foe, that sends a chill down my spine.  Jihad – coming soon to a town near you!

Here’s what it looks like in Egypt right now.

EgyptProtest13

The Obama administration, with plenty of support from the old, establishment republicans, was firmly behind the Arab Spring.  Their cheerleading and support helped oust a dictator in Egypt and install a Jihadist in his place.  And the people of Egypt are out in the streets again, in bigger numbers than ever.  And Egypt is just the latest and loudest of the unrest spreading across the entire region.

Does any of this deter our leaders from continuing their meddling into the affairs of other nations that they clearly do not fully understand?

Many of the “Syrian rebels” are Al Qaida members who fought against American soldiers in Iraq.  And while we’re arming them, supporting them as they decapitate Catholic priests in the name of Allah, the Russians are arming the Syrian government.

My God, what are we doing?

I know I have been on the subject of the amnesty bill for days.  But there’s a lot at stake here and I fear our leaders are about to do something that will be very destructive to the country and which they will not be able to undo.  Today I just have some questions for the “gang of eight” that remain unaswered, some even unasked (by the media.)

How do you know we have 11 million illegals here?  Can you prove me wrong when I say it’s more likely 20 to 30 million?

You say we need to bring these people “out of the shadows.”  Well, what about those who do not come out and sign on to your plan?  Wlll you look for them?  If so, what will you do when you find them?  Why can’t you find them now?  Will you deport them?  If you don’t plan on looking for those who don’t come forward, what’s the point of all this?

What about “wet foot, dry foot?”  Will all people who come here illegally be treated the same or will we still have special classes of illegals?

We passed a law in 2006 that said you had to build a fence at the border.  Why isn’t it done yet?  Why is it part of negotiations now?  Aren’t you already reguired by law to build it?

Aren’t you bound by your oath of office to protect the nation from all invaders?  Why won’t you do it?  Why is your main function part of negotiations?  Why do American citizens have to give up anything in order to get you to do what is already your job?

You claim this law will prevent illegals from recieving federal benefits.  What about state benefits?  Is this a sleight of hand to fool us?  Do you think we’re this stupid?  Many illegals are already recieving benefits, especially those whose children have been born here.  Will you take those benefits away?  Will they be turned away from emergency rooms if they can’t pay?  Will children here illegally attend public schools?

We’re still waiting for the enforcment of our souther border that was promised to us in 1986 when we gave amnesty to the illegals here at that time.  When can we expect you to fulfill your obligation under that law?

Considering your track record, why should we believe that this time will be different and that we should trust you?

Yesterday the Supreme Court ruled against the voters of Arizona, who supported a requirement that people provide proof of citizenship in order to register to vote.  They said that state law is trumped by federal law which simply requires an applicant to swear they are a citizen, but doesn’t require any proof.

There’s a lot of legal mumbo jumbo flying around about the decision, but it really boils down to the integrity of one of our most basic rights – free and fair elections.  In the current climate of government distrust, this is simply pouring fuel on the fire.

Consider all the things you do that require you to prove who you are – cash a check, get on a plane, see a doctor, borrow a library book, apply for a loan…  Yet, to register to vote, all you have to do is say you are a citizen.  No evidence is required.

But who is checking up?  Prior to the last election, my governor, Rick Scott, tried to clean up our voter rolls and he was challenged from all sides.  He’s a racist, was the claim, and simply wanted to prevent poor minorities from exercising their right to vote.

All this while the Obama administration and Congress are working diligently to provide amnesty for millions of illegal aliens, pulling their “rights” out of thin air and using that tired charge of racism against any of us who object.

Gee, if only they had the same level of interest in actual citizens who are currently on the receiving end of real abuse from the IRS, the NSA, the FBi….

Other recent news:

An eight-grader in West Virginia is in trouble for wearing an NRA  t-shirt to school.  The incident got a bit out of hand and now the young teen has been charged with obstruction and faces a year in jail.

CBS correspondent Elizabeth Palmer reported on the presidential election in Iran.  Speaking of the candidates she said they were all very conservative and “in U.S. terms it was as if all the candidates for the presidency came from the tea party.”

Hmmm, so the tea party is like radical Muslims who want to wipe Israel off the map and kill Americans?

Speaking of the tea party, they have planned a big rally for tomorrow at the Capital.  Did you know that?  It hasn’t gotten much notice in the press.  They are calling their event “Audit the IRS.”  Sounds like a great idea to me.

President Obama is planning to send arms to the rebels in Syria.  The problem with this is that the rebels are now largely controlled by Al Qaeda.  Oh, and the Russians are backing the Syrian government.  Does this mean we’re in a de facto war with the Russians?

Here’s a shocker – Project Veritas has caught phone company employees handing out Obamaphones to people who said they would be selling them to pay for designer handbags and illegal drugs.

I guess that’s enough.  I don’t know about you, but that’s about as much catching up as I can stand for now.

Here’s a tip for our low-information voters.  Pay attention to the news late on Friday afternoons.  Politicians know that you are busy on the weekend and have better things to do than keep an eye on them.  So if they are in a position to control bad news about themselves, they will release such information late on a Friday, hoping that the worst of it will all blow over by the time you start catching up on Monday morning.

Such an event happened this past Friday as Rep. Joe Garcia (D-FL) dismissed his Chief of Staff, Jeffrey Garcia, who had been involved in a scheme illegally requesting thousands of absentee ballots for last year’s primary election.

At a news conference on Saturday, Rep. Garcia said he knew nothing of the plot to stuff the ballot box in his favor, calling it “ill-conceived.”  He said it was a “well-intentioned attempt to maximize voter turnout.”

Maximize voter turnout?

What voters?  Dead voters?  Convicted felons?  Voters who no longer live here?  Snowbirds who actually vote in another state and aren’t eligible to vote in Florida at all?  Illegals?

The Congressman added that the system is “prone to fraud.”

No kidding.  I have been saying for years that absentee ballots on demand and early voting are designed to facilitate voter fraud.  But what do I know?

At this time last year, during the 2012 campaign, the State of Florida was engaged in a legal back and forth with the Dept. of Homeland Security and the Dept. of Justice as Gov. Rick Scott tried to clean up our voter rolls.  We have a lot of people registered to vote who are not eligible to do so.  Scott wanted to use the database of the DHS, which states are legally entitled to do, but DHS refused access.

This forced Scott to use the less accurate database from the DMV.  Even so, they turned up thousands of questionable registrations and we were even told at one point that at least 50 people had been identified as having voted illegally in the past.

At the same time, around the country, states were being harassed by the DOJ for similar efforts and for passing laws requiring voters show identification in order to cast a vote.

They were accused of voter suppression for simply requiring people prove they were who they said they were.

FOX News reported on the story about Congressman Garcia and the illegally requested ballots and it has showed up on some the conservative blog sites.  Other than that it has remained a fairly local story.  I can’t help but wonder what other similar incidents have happened across the country that we never hear about.

If anyone is still working to clean up voter registration rolls in Florida or anywhere else, I haven’t heard of it.

The identities of those people found to have voted illegally in Florida were never revealed and no one seems to have any interest in any of this now.

I suppose it will all come up again next year as we get closer to the very important election in November.  But it seems to me that now is the time for it to be done, not just months before the election when progressives will claim it’s a political move by conservatives who want to deny some people their right to vote.

I’m tired of being told that there is no such thing as voter fraud.  We’ve seen report after report proving it does exist and it is only by political motivation that one can deny it.  My one vote is one of my most basic rights.  When others cast more than one vote, or cast a vote illegally, they steal my vote from me.

And from you.

So beware of anyone who tells you it just doesn’t happen, or who stands in the way of fixing the problem.  They are plotting to steal your vote from you.

-Kathy
