Godwin’s Law no longer applies, not in Obama’s America, not when average Americans are talking about the “Gestapo tactics” of federal police.

More stories of the vengeance being served up for Americans surface every day.  Yesterday we learned of a group of seniors on a bus tour to Yellowstone being held as prisoners in their hotel.  Armed Park Police forbid they go outside.  They stood guard at the doors.  They barricaded Old Faithful.  They forbid the seniors from taking pictures, saying they could not do that as it was “recreating” and that is not permitted on public land during a government shutdown.

Some of the foreign tourists on the trip thought they were under arrest.  Imagine that!  Visitors from other countries coming to The Land of The Free thought they were under arrest by our federal government.

The tour guide described the behavior of the Park Police as “Gestapo tactics.”

If you haven’t yet seen the full story, read it here.

But perhaps the worst story yet in all this is the news that the United States of America will not pay death benefits to the families of five soldiers killed during our phony government shutdown.  Congress is blaming the Defense Dept. and they, of course, are blaming Congress.

I blame the Commander-In-Chief.

We’ve all watched as President Obama re-writes laws on regular basis with the stroke of his pen.  It would take one phone call from him and the families of our dead soldiers would be taken care of.

But he hasn’t picked up the phone.

It costs money to erect barricades all over Washington and all around the country.  It costs money to have armed agents of the federal government guard these newly off-limit areas.  Money we’re told we don’t have.  Which is it?

And while our veterans and average American citizens are not welcome in our nation’s capital, Nancy Pelosi specifically thanked Obama for opening up the Mall for a rally for illegal aliens yesterday.

IllegalRallyStage

He picked up the phone for that.

All this is wearing on America.  People who work hard and play by the rules don’t like what’s going on.  And their displeasure with Washington politicians goes back far past this current shutdown.  A couple of years ago all that anger manifested in the Tea Party rallies.  These were peaceful gatherings.

On Friday, we’re expecting thousands of truckers to descend on Washington for the “Truckers Ride for the Constitution.”  The drivers say they will clog the beltway, tying up traffic there for three days.  While this certainly isn’t violent, it’s far more active and disruptive than standing around holding a sign for a few hours.

What then?  Do the protests continue to escalate?  What comes next?

More importantly, is this the objective of our president and his advisors?  Does he want Americans to be so angry at their government?

It certainly appears that way, doesn’t it?

If not, why all the poking?  Why all the shoving?  Why push Americans around and treat them so badly that “Gestapo tactics” gets tossed out by a tour bus driver and a bunch of senior citizens?  Why the ongoing effort to so publicly disrespect our soldiers and veterans?

We are in some uncharted territory here, folks.  Tread lightly.  Watch your back.  Watch out for each other.  I think we’re in for a very bumpy ride.  And it will be easy to abandon our principles and simply fall into line.  But the cost of that easy out will be paid with our liberty.

Remember that when the truth is on your side, you hold the real power.  Stay focused on that truth and when it’s all over, we win.  And win we must.  The stakes are just too high.

We have all been quite disgusted by the disrespect for our veterans going on in Washington.  The Obama administration has gone out of its way and spent additional tax dollars to block access to our memorial sites.

Our complaints have been swatted away by President Obama.  It’s just all part of the government shutdown.

HonorFlight7

VetsBarricade1

VetsBarricade2And now, continuing to up the ante, he rubs more salt in the gaping wounds of Americans.

Today the National Mall will be open for illegal aliens.

The Park Service has given the go ahead for an amnesty rally.  Camino Americano will have their event today with the blessing of our president and his administration.

There’s such a disconnect in all this.  American citizens and war veterans have been barricaded out of our monuments in our nation’s capitol and all across the country because of an argument over Obamacare.  President Obama and the Democrats in Washington say that they won’t negotiate with Republican lawmakers because Obamacare is “the law of the land.”

But we have millions of illegals aliens in America because the same politicians have ignored our immigration laws which are also “the law of the land.”

And now those illegals demand their “rights.”  We’re told they are relegated to “living in the shadows” yet they boldly march in our capitol, demanding we give them citizenship.  And walking right beside them will be Nancy Pelosi and dozens of other Democrat lawmakers.

But our veterans?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently reported that 90,473,00 Americans age 16 or older are not in the labor force.  This is the highest number of unemployed since they have been collecting this data.

Our unemployment rate hovers just above 7%, but this number fails to tell the whole story.  Last month we were told that the number of unemployed dropped by 115,000.  But that’s not because they all found jobs.  It’s because the number of the overall workforce dropped by almost three times that amount.

Friend of Liberty Trail, Max, linked to an article from Byron York yesterday in his comment, and we need to look closely at it.  York tells us that more than 100 large corporations doing business in America have sent a joint letter to congressional leaders urging them to pass the immigration bill being considered.  From the article:

A new immigration law, the corporate officers say, “would be a long overdue step toward aligning our nation’s immigration policies with its workforce needs at all skill levels to ensure U.S. global competitiveness.” The officials cite a publication of their trade group, the HR Policy Association, which calls for immigration reform to “address the reality that there is a global war for talent.” The way for the United States to win that war for talent, they say, is more immigration.

But York goes on to tell us about all the layoffs happening in the very same companies who are signatories of this letter.

Hewlett-Packard, whose Executive Vice President for Human Resources Tracy Keogh signed the letter, laid off 29,000 employees in 2012. In August of this year, Cisco Systems, whose Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Kathleen Weslock signed the letter, announced plans to lay off 4,000 — in addition to 8,000 cut in the last two years. United Technologies, whose Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Organization Elizabeth B. Amato signed the letter, announced layoffs of 3,000 this year. American Express, whose Chief Human Resources Officer L. Kevin Cox signed the letter, cut 5,400 jobs this year. Procter & Gamble, whose Chief Human Resources Officer Mark F. Biegger signed the letter, announced plans to cut 5,700 jobs in 2012.

Those are just a few of the layoffs at companies whose officials signed the letter. A few more: T-Mobile announced 2,250 layoffs in 2012. Archer-Daniels-Midland laid off 1,200. Texas Instruments, nearly 2,000. Cigna, 1,300. Verizon sought to cut 1,700 jobs by buyouts and layoffs. Marriott announced “hundreds” of layoffs this year. International Paper has closed plants and laid off dozens. And General Mills, in what the Minneapolis Star-Tribune called a “rare mass layoff,” laid off 850 people last year.

With a record number of Americans unemployed, big businesses are demanding that Congress import cheap labor for them.

UnemployedMan

I fear Congress and the Obama administration are more than willing to accommodate these folks.  They preach to us about what a dangerous place the world is.  They must violate our privacy, make war in our name, and spend obscene amounts of our tax dollars to “protect” us.

All they while they still refuse to secure our borders from foreign invaders.  Our cities are overrun by violent gangs, many of whose members are here illegally.  Federal bureaucracy ties the hands of local law enforcement to do anything about it.  Our hospitals are crumbling under the cost of providing medical care for illegal aliens who cannot pay.  Many of our school districts face the same problem.  They push our welfare system to the brink.

There are the bigger dangers that come from terrorists who sneak in with the “poor farmers simply seeking a better life for their children.”  No one knows who they are, where they are or when they will strike.

And now they want our jobs too.  I’m a strong believer in capitalism, but this is not capitalism.  This is treasonous.  These big companies are ones whose donations fund the campaigns of the very politicians who will decide if cheaper payrolls trump the welfare of American citizens.

In the coming weeks as the debate on the immigration bill heats up, you’ll see and hear the usual pleas from those valedictorians and that nice kid who just wants to be a Marine.  Their stories will tug at your heart.  They are meant to.

But are you willing to trade your child’s dreams for theirs?

This is the new ad from fwd.us advocating for amnesty for illegal aliens.  It is about the plight of Alejandro Morales, an illegal immigrant.

That’s powerful stuff.  And who wouldn’t want such a fine, young man like Alejandro serving with our Marines?

That’s part of what gets left out of all this.  Young Mr. Morales, like Daniela Pelaez, the valedictorian and illegal immigrant who was the focus of amnesty promoters last year, is the kind of immigrant we all want.  As I have in the past, I challenge you to find a conservative who wants to send Alejandro “back where he came from.”  Yet that’s the narrative we’re always served up – conservatives hate immigrants and just want to deport everyone.

But how is it that Morales finds himself in his predicament?  We only have the limited information from the ad, but we know that his parents brought him here when he was a baby, about 18 years ago.  He and his parents remain illegals.  We assume his parents must have worked to support themselves, so they must have used fake documents in order to do so.

They had to work somewhere, and after all these years it seems hard to believe that no employer figured out that they were not who they said they were.  It’s hard to believe that their employers were not fully aware that they were illegal.  Most likely, those employers took advantage of this and paid them less than what they would to an American citizen or legal immigrant.

At the same time, our elected leaders have allowed this to happen by looking the other way.  For decades they have also acted lawlessly, by refusing to enforce our immigration laws, by allowing businesses to hire illegals, and by refusing to monitor and secure our border.

All along the way everyone involved has been breaking the law.  And now we are faced with Alejandro and what to do about him.

But why is any of this my fault?

Why am I the heartless bastard because I reject the current version of amnesty for illegals and demand our leaders demonstrate to us that they intend to enforce the law from now on?  Why am I the bad guy because I want them to secure the border, prove to us it is secure and then come back and we’ll talk about Alejandro? How do you arrive at the conclusion that I’m a racist and simply hate people who don’t look like me?  Why must I give a pass to the politicians and the rest of the lawbreakers who created this mess?

If it were up to me, Alejandro would not be in this position as all this would have been corrected decades ago.

And could we all admit that we’re not talking about giving amnesty to 20 million Alejandros?  Alejandro is the exception not the rule.  Those sneaking across our border in the middle of the night are far more likely to be gang members and drug runners than ROTC cadets.  Funny how we never see them on the commercials from the amnesty crowd.

Can we all also be honest enough to admit that if we pass this current amnesty bill, we will be right back here in 18 years, trying to figure out what to do with another Alejandro?

We’ve been here before.  Our leaders have promised to enforce the law and get the border secure, if only we’ll just let these folks stay.  We all know they lied.  And we all know they are lying now.  They have no intention of holding up their end of the deal.

Why are we even being asked to make a deal?  These politicians were elected to do a job.  They don’t get to say, “I promise to do my job if you’ll just do this.”  No.  Just do your job.  Enforce the law.  Secure the border.  Go after the companies that hire illegals.  Figure out who’s here.  Deport the criminals.  When you have proven that you are worthy of the trust of the American people, we can find a way to make things right for Alejandro.

You made the mess, so you clean it up.  And stop blaming me for it.

From the Washington Times:

The Homeland Security Department has lost track of more than 1 million people  who it knows arrived in the U.S. but who it cannot prove left the country,  according to an audit Tuesday that also found the department probably won’t meet  its own goals for deploying an entry-exit system.

The government does track arrivals, but is years overdue in setting up a  system to track departures — a goal set in a 1996 immigration law and reaffirmed  in 2004, but which has eluded Republican and Democratic administrations.

1996?  But it’s 2013.  That’s 17 years.  And why weren’t we tracking these people even before that?

“DHS has not yet fulfilled the 2004 statutory requirement to implement a  biometric exit capability, but has planning efforts under way to report to Congress in time for the fiscal year 2016 budget  cycle on the costs and benefits of such a capability at airports and seaports,”  GAO investigators wrote.

Oh.  They’re going to report to Congress by 2016 on costs and benefits.  Oh.  Then what?

As the argument over the pending amnesty legislation moves forward, we’re going to hear from a lot of politicians about border security and how they’re ramping up efforts and are about to get tough.

Right.

In its official response to the GAO report, the Homeland Security Department said it is creating a working group to  try to improve its data, and pointed to its success in reducing the backlog of  overstay cases from 1.6 million to 1 million.

Create a working group.  That sounds tough, doesn’t it?

And that number – one million they can’t account for?  Well, it is down from 1.6 million.  Success – government style!

Washington is full of weasels.  They’ll promise you anything and then do as they please.

Trust them at your own peril.

What do Las Vegas Casinos, a youth employment program and Alaskan Seafood have in common?  They all were promised money (yours and mine) in Senate bill 744, The Borderer Security, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013.  The bill, otherwise known as the Amnesty Bill, passed yesterday in the US Senate by a wide margin.

But what do these things have to do with giving amnesty to millions of illegals?

Well boys and girls, when members of Congress get a zany idea they start with a bill.

ImJustABill

In this case, some senators like Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Chuck Schumer(D-NY) wanted to give amnesty to all the people who had broken our law and so they got some other zany senators, like John McCain (R-AZ) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) to help them.  People call them the Gang of Eight.

This gang wrote a great, big, giant bill – 1,200 pages!  That’s almost like 10 summer novels, except that it’s all written in legal speak.  That’s so that most people couldn’t understand it even if they did read it all.

This crazy bill says that we are going to give legal status to all those law-breakers, the ones who are not American citizens.  But they promise that they won’t do this until our Southern border is secured.  The bill includes lots and lots of money (yours and mine) and lots and lots of promises about all the things they are going to do to make sure that foreigners won’t ever be able to break into our country again.

Well at least that part sounds good!  That’s what we’ve all been asking them to do for decades.

But hold on a minute.  Section 2314 of the bill says

“(iii) WAIVER.—The Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security may, in the discretion of the Attorney General or the Secretary, waive the application of clause (i) or (ii)(I) for an alien, regardless whether the alien is within or outside the United States, if the Attorney General or the Secretary find that a determination of inadmissibility to the United States for such alien would—

“(I) result in extreme hardship to the alien or to the alien’s parent, spouse, son, or daughter who is a citizen of the United States or an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence; or

“(II) in the case of a VAWA self-petitioner, result in significant hardship to the alien or a parent or child of the alien who is a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or a qualified alien (as defined in section 431 of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1641(b).

“(iv) LIMITATION ON REVIEW.—No court shall have jurisdiction to review a decision or action of the Attorney General or the Secretary regarding a waiver under clause (iii).”

I told you it wasn’t an easy read.

What that basically says is that the Attorney General or the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security can waive all that stuff about keeping foreigners out.  Now let’s see, our Attorney General is Eric Holder who has been in trouble for lying to us since the day he started, who still claims he knew nothing about Operation Fast and Furious that gave guns to Mexican gangs, even though we all know better,  and who is under investigation for spying on members of the media.

And our Secretary of DHS is Janet Napolitano, who released thousands of illegal aliens, including known felons, into our communities earlier this year and who has been sued by ICE agents who claim her policies of releasing dangerous illegals endangers the public and forces the agents to break the law in order to be in compliance.

Now who might ever think that either Holder or Napolitano might just ignore the parts of the law that spends all that money (yours and mine) on making sure the border is secure?

Like I said, it’s a crazy bill.  So the Gang of Eight found themselves in a pickle about how to get the other senators to vote for it.  They had some super-secret meetings and asked those senators what could they do make the bill more palatable.

Some senators, like Harry Reid (D-NV) said, “Well, if there was some money in it for my state, I could vote for your crazy bill.”

And that’s how money for things like Las Vegas casinos and Alaskan seafood ends up in bills about amnesty for illegal aliens.  It’s all about lawmakers bringing home the bacon to ensure their own reelection.

And when that’s the ultimate goal of our leaders, even the craziest and most dangerous bills can become law.

Paula Deen spent most of last week begging for forgiveness for admitting she uttered the N-word sometime in the past.

The trial of George Zimmerman has captured the national news.

And a New Jersey mom is violently beaten in her home while her 3 year-old watches.

So is Paula Deen a racist?  I don’t know.  I’ve never met her.  She seems nice enough.  Is she the only public figure who has ever said the N-word?  Certainly not.

I’m not an aficionado of rap music, but I have heard the word used by black and white rappers.  They use other nasties too, usually directed at women – bitch and ho.  Does that make them misogynists?  Is it racist when they say the N-word?  Should they grovel like Deen is doing, begging for forgiveness for their words?

And what about Zimmerman?  Is he a racist?  I’ve never met him either, so I don’t know.  The sad truth is that the trial is about race and not about Trayvon Martin’s death.  Hundreds of young, black men are killed each year (mostly in Chicago) and no one outside of their families cares very much.  They don’t make the evening news except for being included in the statistics.

The sad, sad truth is that the only reason you know Trayvon Martin’s name is that his killer was not another young, black man.

Is the sociopath in the video, who beat the NJ mom a racist?  Does he hate whites?  Maybe he hates women.  Maybe he hates white women.

Or maybe he’s just a crazy person who needs to be locked up so he can’t hurt anyone else.

Was it right for the Food Channel to cancel Paula Deen’s show?  They are free to choose what they want to do as a private company, aren’t they?  But should someone lose their source of income and have their reputation ruined because they admit they used a racial slur sometime in the past?  Bob Bryd was a member of the Klu Klux Klan and held the office of “Exalted Cyclops.”  He apologized and went on to be a United States Senator and member of the Democrat party for over 50 years.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on this one.  But I sure would like to meet the person who claims to be perfect.

Our elected leaders are about to pass a new immigration bill that is a disaster.  It is going to cause havoc to our economy and will have a profound effect on our culture.  They know all this.  They are lying about the bill and making believe it’s going to be great.  We all know better.

But members of Congress know that anyone who opposes the bill will be called a racist.  And they so fear that label that they are willing to jeopardize the welfare of the nation to avoid it.

It’s my personal experience that relations between the races have never been better out here in the real world where most of us live.  But the issues of racial divides and discrimination have been very profitable for some people – those in government and their cronies.  If we are all getting along nicely, their source of wealth dries up and they don’t want that.  So they go to great lengths to perpetuate the division.

There is still too much fear to stand up to the Al Sharptons and the La Razas of the world.  Until we do, celebrities will be punished for their words, we’ll focus on the neighborhood watch guy instead of figuring out why young, black men keep killing each other and government will pass bad laws so that dishonest politicians can “prove” they care.

Several years ago, Attorney General Eric Holder said that we are “a nation of cowards” regarding the discussion of race in America.

It’s pretty much the one and only time I have agreed with Mr. Holder.
