Show of hands, please – as we began the quest to find the next President of The United States, how many of you thought that would include a discussion of Megyn Kelly’s menstrual cycle?  And yet that’s where we find ourselves in the continuing saga of The Trump War on Political Correctness.

In the exchange of accusations following Thursday night’s debate, Trump said that he thought Kelly was very angry at the debate, that she had “blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her whatever.”

And that “whatever” is what everyone is currently up in arms about.

The republican establishment, that desperately wants Trump to go back to whatever he was doing three months ago, says he was making a stab at Kelly, that it was her “time of the month” and so she was a little irrational.  Trump says he meant that blood was coming from her nose and that only a deviant would think what he was being accused of.

Eric Erickson of RedState officially uninvited Trump from their big gathering in Atlanta this weekend, saying Trump’s remark was disrespectful of all female journalists and that he didn’t want his daughter in the same room with Trump.  Jeb Bush again demanded Trump apologize, as so many others have.

Now, if Trump had meant what his accusers are saying, he wouldn’t deny it.  That would be out of character.  No, he would admit it.  And then he would most likely double down.  Isn’t that what he’s been doing and what’s driving them crazy?

It doesn’t really matter, because this isn’t about who’s right or wrong here.  It’s about that apology Bush is demanding from Trump.  It’s about the party leaders banishing him from their pow-wow.  It’s about them being in a battle with someone they can’t control, can’t pay off and can’t shut up.  It’s about political correctness and what to do with someone who colors outside of the lines.

And so the Republican Party leaders, the guys who make the deals in those smoke filled back rooms, who lie to us over and over, are left to behave like petulant children, stomping their feet, demanding that Trump stop and telling him he’s not welcome at their parties.  They want to get on with their listening tours, you know, when they travel the country, shaking hands, kissing babies and finding out what the people think.  They want to tell us all the really great stuff they’re going to do if only we’ll give them our votes.

And there’s Donald Trump, the republican candidate who is beating all the others in the pack by double digits, who is persona non grata with the big wheels of the Republican Party, pulling back the curtain to expose them.

He’s not going to stop, at least not while they keep demanding he grovel and beg their forgiveness.  Because Trump knows  that Americans who have had to bear political correctness for years, who have been beaten down by it, made to pay for it, chastised for speaking against it, and live in fear of violating it, have finally found someone who unabashedly defies it – every single chance he gets.  They have found someone who they believe will actually build that wall on the southern border.  None of them care about Megyn Kelly’s menstrual cycle, they don’t believe for a minute that she needs a man to defend her, they don’t care that Jeb Bush and the rest of the gang are upset because their campaigns aren’t going according to plan.

They only see someone willing to publicly validate all the lies they’ve been told over the years and to speak in plain language about it to all comers, no matter who is offended or exposed.

And they’ll keep supporting him as long as he keeps it up.

Donald Trump’s stump speech can be scribbled on one side of a cocktail Napkin.

“China and Japan are ripping us off.  We need a wall.  Politicians are stupid.  And I’m rich.”

That’s pretty much it.  It’s certainly not a traditional campaign.  So why is he suddenly so popular?

A record 24 million Americans tuned in to the Republican primary debate Thursday night and we all know that’s because of Donald Trump.  Have all these voters suddenly decided he’s their guy?  Do they envision him living in the White House, receiving foreign dignitaries, signing treaties and delivering the State of The Union Address?

No, neither do I.

As absurd as it may sound, this multi-billionaire who seemingly has little in common with middle class Americans has become their mouthpiece, their megaphone, their one-man army out to do battle with the corruption that is Washington, DC.  We can tap out angry emails to the politicians, call their offices and complain, and yell at our TV screens, but it’s all meaningless.  They continue to ignore us, lie to us, steal our money and mortgage our grandchildren’s future.

But they cannot ignore Donald Trump.  Not when he’s center stage at their big shindig, stealing their limelight and telling them on national TV all the things we want them to know about just what we think of them.

The politicians and their accomplices – their donors, advisors, flunkies and members of the media – are not happy and make little effort to hide that.  But they have no one to blame but themselves.  Like parents who indulge their child’s every whim and then complain that they have a brat on their hands, Trump’s popularity is a demon of their own creation.  They are responsible for Trump’s success.

And every time they attack Trump, call him a buffoon or question his intellect or ability, they are actually slinging those attacks at middle class Americans.  Because, at least for now, we are Trump.  And when he tells those politicians that they are the stupid ones and that they are corrupt and that they can’t get anything done, he’s speaking for every single frustrated, angry American who just wants to be heard.

That’s why Trump’s poll numbers go up every time they attack him.  When people vote for Trump, they’re actually voting for themselves.  They have found a way, absurd as it may be, to upset the status quo.

And it feels good, doesn’t it?

I don’t know how this is going to play out.  I do know that politicians won’t learn from it.  Fixing what ails America won’t come from them, at least not the ones we have now.  It’s simply not in their DNA.  I hope voters will learn from it.  I hope they see that they don’t have to accept mediocrity and corruption from our elected leaders and that they can and should speak up whenever they get the chance.  I hope they figure out that fixing America will come from the people.  Washington is simply not up to the task, nor do they have any interest in the endeavor.

For now though, I’m just going to enjoy all this.  The political class can’t control Trump.  He doesn’t need their money.  They can’t buy him and they don’t know how to shut him up.  And although they pretend otherwise, they know he’s speaking for us.

And that scares them most of all.

The right to vote is fundamental to our government and was intended to ensure that those we elect to represent us will protect our interests and our liberty.  We hear all the time, especially close to Election Day, that our right to vote is sacred.  It should be protected at all costs.  Nothing must stand in the way of any of us casting our ballot.

But what about the responsibility of each citizen to be informed enough to make a wise choice?  What happens when the electorate is ignorant of what is going on around them?

I’m sorry, but I just don’t see the humor here.

I’ll bet that each of these folks knows Snooki.  They know Miley Cyrus too.  And they can tell you who won American Idol.

And most likely, they vote.

Are you angry about what’s going on in Washington right now?  Are you sick and tired of corrupt politicians who tell you one thing, then do the opposite?  Are you frightened that they won’t stop spending our grandchildren’s money?  Are you afraid they are completely clueless about what they are doing?

Well, who’s really to blame?  Who sent them to Washington?  Who said, “Well, I like that guy who does the morning news and he likes that candidate, so I guess I’ll vote for him?”  Or did you just pick the candidate who promised to give you stuff?

We get the government we deserve.  When enough uninformed people go to the polls and cast uneducated, ignorant votes, we end up where we are today.

If you are paying attention and know who is hurting us and who is helping, thank you.

If you are clueless, either get informed or stay home on Election Day.  You are the real reason we are in this mess.

On Tuesday, President Obama’s spokesman, Jay Carney, gave us a peek into what the president would focus on in his current campaign tour.

Phony scandals?  Surely Carney was joking.

But he wasn’t.  Phony is exactly what Obama said the next day in an otherwise snoozer of a speech at Knox College in Illinois.

He took a lot of heat for the line.  But just to be sure that no one got the wrong idea and wouldn’t assume he just chose his words poorly, he doubled down and repeated the charge yesterday while speaking to another handpicked crowd of adoring fans.

Like so many others, I’m still picking my chin up from the floor and wondering which scandals he’s referring to.  Is he talking about Border Agent Brian Terry, who was killed with a Fast and Furious gun?  Or the hundreds of Mexican citizens who were killed with those guns?  Are they phony?

Or could he be talking about the four Americans murdered in Benghazi?  Are they phony?

Maybe he meant the hundreds of conservative groups systematically targeted illegally by the IRS and prevented from participating in our political system for two election cycles.

Or perhaps he meant the reporters whose phone records were “obtained” by the Justice Department.  Maybe he meant James Rosen, the FOX News correspondent who the same Justice Department falsely named as a co-conspirator in an espionage case in order to obtain access to his phone and email accounts.

Perhaps he meant the revelation that the NSA is collecting data on each and every one of us, storing it all away for some yet undisclosed purpose in the future.

Are these all phony?

Who paid any price for the death of Brian Terry?  Who has paid for the deaths of Ambassador Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty or Ty Woods?  The only person jailed was the guy who made the video.  Who ordered that video be used as a cover-up?  Talk about phony baloney.

Who’s investigating the IRS?  The American citizens who testified before Congress about how they were targeted and abused say no one from the FBI or anyone else has contacted them.

I’m angry.  Really angry.  All around me, I see the lives of Americans being destroyed.  Good, decent, hard-working people who have played by the rules all their lives are losing their jobs, their businesses, their homes and their life savings.

What’s being done about it?  Arrogant, overpaid bureaucrats hide behind their “rights.”

Lois Lerner

Except for a tiny handful of decent men and women, members of Congress go along to get along, spending borrowed money we can never repay, and covering up for the most outrageous and criminal behavior of those in positions of power.  Their number one concern is getting re-elected and staying on the gravy train of taxpayer dollars.  Meanwhile, they preach to the rest of us, call us cowardly racists and just too simple-minded to understand their grand plan.

Our president sneers at our complaints, and with his signature smirk he labels them phony.  He dismisses us and swats us away as one would a gnat on a hot summer day.

It’s spiraling out of control now folks.  Nothing is being done about any of this.  They’re simply waiting us out.  They’re waiting until we get tired of asking for answers and action.  Obamacare will soon hit us and that will do the job.  As we all watch our healthcare system implode and find ourselves with little access to medical care we’ll realize that they even have the power to take away our health.

What’s happening is all very real.  And a real price will be paid by real Americans.

They only things that are phony are the hollow words coming from our leaders.

Way back in 2010, Christine O’Donnell ran for the United States Senate for the State of Delaware.  O’Donnell was a tea party favorite and became the target ChristineODonnellof some fantastic stories at the hand of her opponents.

One of those stories was about a tax lien on her home.  It was alleged that she wasn’t all that bright and couldn’t manage her own finances.  And to top it off she hadn’t paid her taxes.  Why should such a person hold a position of authority?  It didn’t matter that the lien was not real.  She lost the race.

More information about that lien is trickling out now.  O’Donnell recently got a call from an investigator at the Treasury Department to tell her that some official from the State of Delaware had accessed her tax records improperly.  The date of that access was March 9, 2010.

Coincidentally, that was the same date that O’Donnell announced she was running for the Senate.  Wow, small world, huh?  But if that’s not enough for you, March 9, 2010 was also the date that the IRS placed the tax lien (for the home she no longer owned and didn’t owe any taxes on) into Ms. O’Donnell’s records.

What are the odds?

A Delaware official says the investigation into O’Donnell’s tax records was done properly, and says it was done on March 20, not March 9.  But he can’t provide any evidence or additional information as all their records of the event have already been destroyed.

I’ll give you a minute for that one.

We’ve learned in recent months that the IRS has engaged in a systematic effort to use its power to undermine the most basic rights of conservative Americans by way of denying and delaying tax exempt status for any groups associated with conservative values.  Now it appears the abuse runs deeper than we imagined.

Let’s engage in our own fantastic story for a moment.  Fast forward a bit to the presidential race in 2016. Obamacare is in full swing and, as planned, the IRS has access to all our medical records.  Their abuse of power continues unchecked.

The Republican Party has chosen Margaret O’Malley as their candidate.  She’s a rock-solid conservative and the first female ever in such a position.  With just weeks to go until Election Day, O’Malley is leading and looks headed to be the next President of The United States.

On an otherwise average Monday morning, the headline of the New York Times screams that O’Malley is mentally unstable.  The story reveals that The Times has obtained a copy of her medical records showing her history of being institutionalized for depression and drug abuse.  The associated criminal offenses are hinted at.  There are also records of treatment for a variety of STDs and a listing of multiple abortions – from the pro-life candidate.

O’Malley steps to the microphones and claims innocence of each and every charge, but she is unable to overcome the media frenzy.  She drops in the polls like a brick and is beaten by the Democrat Party candidate in a landslide.  Her reputation is left in ruins.

A couple of months later, as the new president is about to be inaugurated, The Times prints a retraction in two tiny paragraphs on page 32, below the fold.  They reveal that the IRS accidentally attached the medical records of another person to those of Ms. O’Malley.  Oops.  They still refuse to reveal the identity of the person who leaked O’Malley’s records to them.  The Justice Department quietly drops the investigation.

Do you think that story is too fantastic?  I don’t.  I think it’s right where we are headed.  Our government has been ruling against the wishes of the people for quite a long time already.  And now they are shutting the door behind them.  They are guaranteeing their power never be challenged by letting in only those who they trust.

Question them, challenge them or expose them and you’ll find the power they have claimed for themselves come down on you in a way you simply cannot defend.  If they can’t find anything “usefull” to discredit an opponent, they will simply make it up.  They’ve been doing it for years by way of innuendo.  Now they simply have to turn to their pals, conveniently positioned in the maze of bureaucracy they have created, to obtain “real” evidence for whatever fantasy they require.

Last night, the Treasury Department (the soon-to-be enforcers of our healthcare) posted an announcement on their website about Obamacare.

“The Administration is announcing that it will provide an additional year before the ACA mandatory employer and insurer reporting requirements begin.”

Everyone has been scrambling, trying to figure out how to comply with the law and come up with the money to pay for that compliance, with little direction from the government that imposed it on us.  Implementation is just months away and no one seems to know what to do.  The exchanges promised by the government are still not set up and the law is still being written, as so much was left by Congress to be up to the “discretion” of the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius.

It’s contributing to unemployment, as companies large and small look for ways to avoid being penalized.  The nation is engaged in a giant game of hot potato.  No one wants to get stuck paying the bill.

The Obama administration, who have loudly been touting Obamacare as “the law of the land,” now seems like it doesn’t want to comply with it either.  Everyone, including some on the left, are calling the entire thing a “trainwreck.”    So, as has become a habit now, the administration is picking another portion of another law that it doesn’t like and announcing that they simply won’t enforce it.

Businesses are to get a free ride for another year.  We won’t have to watch that trainwreck happen, at least not now, not until 2015, at which time the administration says it will enforce the law.  Now, what happens in November of 2014, right before all this?

Think, think, think….

Oh yeah!  Midterm elections!

The left is hoping to take back the House and retain the Senate next year.  But if voters actually see Obamacare in practice, that is simply not going to happen.  Obamacare is such a disaster that the democrats know they will lose even the low information voters who still believe they are going to get super-deluxe healthcare that someone else is going to pay for.  Remember, not a single republican voted for Obamacare.

My own personal opinion is that President Obama and his close, inner circle don’t really care about any of this.  They are content to ride out the minutia and the day-to-day issues in favor of their larger plan.  These are book people.  They are academics and idealists.  Like their foreign policy, all this works out great on a blackboard and in the faculty lounge discussions.  They peer down their noses at those of us who point out the faults of their plans.

It doesn’t much matter to them that Americans are suffering because the country has no direction and the rest of the world is spinning out of control.  It works in their books and so they know in their minds, that it will eventually work in practice if they just get rid of the opposition and give it enough time.  This is naïve at best and insane at worst.

We are living their dream.  We are their guinea pigs.  We are their experiment in progressive ideology.  They are rich and insulated and will pay no price when all this crumbles.  That will be left to us also.

So if they have to put off their grand plan for another year to placate some members of Congress and deceive voters just a little longer, it’s no big deal.  It’s a small price to pay to see their lifes’ work implemented, and their progressive dreams imposed on us all.

What do Las Vegas Casinos, a youth employment program and Alaskan Seafood have in common?  They all were promised money (yours and mine) in Senate bill 744, The Borderer Security, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013.  The bill, otherwise known as the Amnesty Bill, passed yesterday in the US Senate by a wide margin.

But what do these things have to do with giving amnesty to millions of illegals?

Well boys and girls, when members of Congress get a zany idea they start with a bill.

In this case, some senators like Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Chuck Schumer(D-NY) wanted to give amnesty to all the people who had broken our law and so they got some other zany senators, like John McCain (R-AZ) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) to help them.  People call them the Gang of Eight.

This gang wrote a great, big, giant bill – 1,200 pages!  That’s almost like 10 summer novels, except that it’s all written in legal speak.  That’s so that most people couldn’t understand it even if they did read it all.

This crazy bill says that we are going to give legal status to all those law-breakers, the ones who are not American citizens.  But they promise that they won’t do this until our Southern border is secured.  The bill includes lots and lots of money (yours and mine) and lots and lots of promises about all the things they are going to do to make sure that foreigners won’t ever be able to break into our country again.

Well at least that part sounds good!  That’s what we’ve all been asking them to do for decades.

But hold on a minute.  Section 2314 of the bill says

“(iii) WAIVER.—The Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security may, in the discretion of the Attorney General or the Secretary, waive the application of clause (i) or (ii)(I) for an alien, regardless whether the alien is within or outside the United States, if the Attorney General or the Secretary find that a determination of inadmissibility to the United States for such alien would—

“(I) result in extreme hardship to the alien or to the alien’s parent, spouse, son, or daughter who is a citizen of the United States or an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence; or

“(II) in the case of a VAWA self-petitioner, result in significant hardship to the alien or a parent or child of the alien who is a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or a qualified alien (as defined in section 431 of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1641(b).

“(iv) LIMITATION ON REVIEW.—No court shall have jurisdiction to review a decision or action of the Attorney General or the Secretary regarding a waiver under clause (iii).”

I told you it wasn’t an easy read.

What that basically says is that the Attorney General or the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security can waive all that stuff about keeping foreigners out.  Now let’s see, our Attorney General is Eric Holder who has been in trouble for lying to us since the day he started, who still claims he knew nothing about Operation Fast and Furious that gave guns to Mexican gangs, even though we all know better,  and who is under investigation for spying on members of the media.

And our Secretary of DHS is Janet Napolitano, who released thousands of illegal aliens, including known felons, into our communities earlier this year and who has been sued by ICE agents who claim her policies of releasing dangerous illegals endangers the public and forces the agents to break the law in order to be in compliance.

Now who might ever think that either Holder or Napolitano might just ignore the parts of the law that spends all that money (yours and mine) on making sure the border is secure?

Like I said, it’s a crazy bill.  So the Gang of Eight found themselves in a pickle about how to get the other senators to vote for it.  They had some super-secret meetings and asked those senators what could they do make the bill more palatable.

Some senators, like Harry Reid (D-NV) said, “Well, if there was some money in it for my state, I could vote for your crazy bill.”

And that’s how money for things like Las Vegas casinos and Alaskan seafood ends up in bills about amnesty for illegal aliens.  It’s all about lawmakers bringing home the bacon to ensure their own reelection.

And when that’s the ultimate goal of our leaders, even the craziest and most dangerous bills can become law.

StephanieCutterAny of you who have been reading here for a while know that Stephanie Cutter is not one of my favorite people.  For our LIVs, Ms. Cutter was President Obama’s Deputy Campaign Manager for the 2012 election.  She became a bit famous at that time for having been caught lying on a pretty regular basis.

After the election, she and the team changed their name to Organizing for Action, applied for 501(c) 4 status and went about continuing to prop up the president’s agenda.  They didn’t even bother changing their web address.  It’s still mybarackobama.com.

Cutter was sent out last week with the clean-up crew, trying to mop up some of the mess of the multiple scandals the White House is facing.  Her assignment was to smooth over the problems with Doug Shulman, the former head of the IRS.  We recently learned that Shulman visited the White House over 150 times between October 2009 and December of 2012.  There has been a lot of speculation about all those visits as we now know that the IRS was targeting conservative groups at that same time.

Cutter appeared on CNN and said, “…many of those meetings were for healthcare implementation. I was in them with him. So there’s nothing nefarious going on.”

Now, Ms. Cutter has been with the Obama administration in various positions since the 2008 campaign.  In 2010 she worked on “communications and outreach” for the ACA (Obamacare) so it’s reasonable to assume she attended some meetings on the subject.

But the following year she assumed a different position and by September of 2011 took the job as Deputy Campaign Manager.

So are we to believe that while she was working on the campaign, she was also involved in the implementation of Obamacare?  I guess there’s nothing illegal about it.  But I take issue with a person of such questionable character involved in the future of all our healthcare.  What’s her medical expertise?  What does she know about insurance?  Besides her skill in dirty politics, what was her contribution?

Her claim that nothing nefarious was going on in these meetings is laughable.  If there’s a meeting and she’s in the room, it’s likely that something very nefarious is going on.

Of course, all this concern about Cutter’s part might be much ado about nothing.  Perhaps Mr. Shulman wasn’t at the White House all those times to discuss Obamacare at all, and was in fact there to discuss how to target conservative groups, and Ms. Cutter Pinocciodidn’t attend all those meetings with him about Obamacare because they never happened.

It certainly wouldn’t be the first time she was caught lying.

Here’s a tip for our low-information voters.  Pay attention to the news late on Friday afternoons.  Politicians know that you are busy on the weekend and have better things to do than keep an eye on them.  So if they are in a position to control bad news about themselves, they will release such information late on a Friday, hoping that the worst of it will all blow over by the time you start catching up on Monday morning.

Such an event happened this past Friday as Rep. Joe Garcia (D-FL) dismissed his Chief of Staff, Jeffrey Garcia, who had been involved in a scheme illegally requesting thousands of absentee ballots for last year’s primary election.

At a news conference on Saturday, Rep. Garcia said he knew nothing of the plot to stuff the ballot box in his favor, calling it “ill-conceived.”  He said it was a “well-intentioned attempt to maximize voter turnout.”

Maximize voter turnout?

What voters?  Dead voters?  Convicted felons?  Voters who no longer live here?  Snowbirds who actually vote in another state and aren’t eligible to vote in Florida at all?  Illegals?

The Congressman added that the system is “prone to fraud.”

No kidding.  I have been saying for years that absentee ballots on demand and early voting are designed to facilitate voter fraud.  But what do I know?

At this time last year, during the 2012 campaign, the State of Florida was engaged in a legal back and forth with the Dept. of Homeland Security and the Dept. of Justice as Gov. Rick Scott tried to clean up our voter rolls.  We have a lot of people registered to vote who are not eligible to do so.  Scott wanted to use the database of the DHS, which states are legally entitled to do, but DHS refused access.

This forced Scott to use the less accurate database from the DMV.  Even so, they turned up thousands of questionable registrations and we were even told at one point that at least 50 people had been identified as having voted illegally in the past.

At the same time, around the country, states were being harassed by the DOJ for similar efforts and for passing laws requiring voters show identification in order to cast a vote.

They were accused of voter suppression for simply requiring people prove they were who they said they were.

FOX News reported on the story about Congressman Garcia and the illegally requested ballots and it has showed up on some the conservative blog sites.  Other than that it has remained a fairly local story.  I can’t help but wonder what other similar incidents have happened across the country that we never hear about.

If anyone is still working to clean up voter registration rolls in Florida or anywhere else, I haven’t heard of it.

The identities of those people found to have voted illegally in Florida were never revealed and no one seems to have any interest in any of this now.

I suppose it will all come up again next year as we get closer to the very important election in November.  But it seems to me that now is the time for it to be done, not just months before the election when progressives will claim it’s a political move by conservatives who want to deny some people their right to vote.

I’m tired of being told that there is no such thing as voter fraud.  We’ve seen report after report proving it does exist and it is only by political motivation that one can deny it.  My one vote is one of my most basic rights.  When others cast more than one vote, or cast a vote illegally, they steal my vote from me.

And from you.

So beware of anyone who tells you it just doesn’t happen, or who stands in the way of fixing the problem.  They are plotting to steal your vote from you.
